Running a Diagnostic Report

The diagnostic report is a preliminary comparison of your data. The diagnostic tool checks for invalid or missing information within the data. Migration diagnostics is an optional but recommended process you will run on your existing foundation data.

To run a diagnostic report on your existing foundation data, do the following:

ClosedCCH® ProSystem fx® Tax

  1. Open the Data Migration Utility.
  2. Click Migration diagnostics.
  3. Select CCH ProSystem fx Tax.
  4. Click Continue.
  5. Enter the administrator or supervisor user ID and password.
  6. Click Log In.
  7. Review the database selected and click Continue. The account that displays is read from your registry. To change the database, you must run workstation setup to another drive with the other account.
  8. Select the criteria for matching records. The information shown here will be used to compare the existing foundation data against CCH Axcess data to see if there are any matching records.

  9. Click Continue to run the diagnostic report. The processing time varies depending on the size of your database.
  10. Click Continue again once the diagnostic is complete.
  11. Review the reports on each tab for exact, possible, no matches, and returns downloaded. See Reviewing the Diagnostic Report for more information.
  12. Click to save the report to an XLS or XLSX file.
  13. Click Finish to return to the Welcome window.
  14. Correct the necessary data in your current product, if necessary.

ClosedCCH® ProSystem fx® Practice

  1. Open Data Migration Utility.
  2. Click Migration diagnostics.
  3. Select CCH ProSystem fx Practice.
  4. Click Continue.
  5. Select a database to verify and click Continue.
  6. Enter the administrator login ID and password.
  7. Click Log In.
  8. Select the data you would like to verify and click Continue. See Selecting Data to Migrate for more information.
  9. Select the criteria for matching records. The information shown here will be used to compare the existing foundation data against the CCH Axcess data to see if there are any matching records.

  10. Click Continue to run the diagnostic report. The processing time will vary depending on the size of your database.
  11. Click Continue again once the diagnostic is complete.
  12. Review the reports on the Verification tab for critical errors, unposted transactions, and exceptions.
  13. Review the reports on the Comparison tab for matching, possibly matching, and non-matching staff, clients, and list items.
  14. Click to save the report to an XLS or XLSX file, if necessary.
  15. Click Finish to return to the Welcome window.
  16. Correct the data in your current product, if necessary.

ClosedCCH® ProSystem fx® Practice Management

  1. Open Data Migration Utility.
  2. Click Migration diagnostics.
  3. Select CCH ProSystem fx Practice Management.
  4. Click Continue.

  7. Click Log In.
