Selecting Return Options

Select how you want to migrate your returns if there is a matching return in the existing foundation suite and CCH Axcess. You can also select how to manage returns that are downloaded to the desktop application, the existing foundation suite.

To select the return migration options, do the following:

  1. Select one of the following options for matching returns:
    • Migrate the existing foundation return as a new version. This will migrate all returns, even if there is a matching return in CCH Axcess. The tax preparer can then select which return version to use in CCH Axcess.
    • Overwrite the CCH Axcess return. Any existing foundation return that has the same ID as a CCH Axcess return will overwrite the CCH Axcess return. Any return information that was completed in CCH Axcess will be lost.
    • Do not migrate returns with an exact match in the CCH Axcess. If a return in the existing foundation suite is an exact match of a return in CCH Axcess, then the existing foundation return will not be migrated to CCH Axcess. This option is not available for Express migrations.
    • Note: If a return ID in the existing foundation suite does not match a return ID in CCH Axcess, the existing foundation return will be migrated.

  2. Select whether you want to migrate downloaded returns. By default, tax returns that have been downloaded will not be included for migration. If you want to override this, select the Yes, migrate returns with downloaded status box and any returns that have been downloaded will be migrated to CCH Axcess. You can run the diagnostic report prior to migration to verify if any returns are downloaded.

    Important: If you select to migrate downloaded returns, any changes that were made to the return in the existing foundation suite (meaning the desktop version of the application) after it was downloaded will not be updated in CCH Axcess. To update the returns in CCH Axcess, you must upload the latest version of the return from the desktop version of the application and then re-migrate the return.

    Note: If you do not select the box, downloaded returns will display on the Return Comparison report on the Not available for migration tab with the reason of Downloaded return.

  3. Click Continue to go on to the next window or Cancel to return to the beginning of the migration process.
