Revoking an Invitation for a Taxpayer's Spouse

If you have been granted the Client Collaboration - Request Dashboard - Client Requests - Edit permission, you can remove a taxpayer's spouse from a previously sent invitation. When you do so:

  • The spouse will no longer be able to log in to the client hub.
  • The return will be treated as a single-signer return. The spouse will not be able to electronically sign the engagement letter or Form 8879 for the return.
  • You must send an updated request to the taxpayer.

Note: Revoking a spouse's invitation does not remove or change the spouse's information in the client's profile in Client Manager.

To revoke an invitation for a taxpayer's spouse:

  1. If you are not already on a Requests page, click , and then select Requests.
  2. Click, and then select Create Single.
  3. Begin typing the client's name or ID. As you type, the system displays possible matches. When you see the client you need, select it. The information about the already created request populates the request.
  4. Clear the Invite Spouse check box.
  5. If a previous engagement letter was sent, you must select to send a new one.
  6. Click a ClosedSend option or Close.
  7. Click Yes to confirm that you want to resend the engagement letter and organizer.
