The iQ Events pane lists announced, proposed, and final changes to tax rulings that could impact your clients' returns. The information provided here can help you identify opportunities to offer additional services to your clients.
Open the iQ Events Pane
To open the iQ Events pane, do one of the following:
Click Application Links on the navigation panel, and then click iQ Events under Business Intelligence. This step adds the pane to your Dashboard if you have not previously done so.
Click Home on the navigation panel, and then select the tab that contains the iQ Events pane.
The event list settings include options for filtering and sorting the events list. Your selections here do not affect other CCH Axcess users and are retained when you close and reopen the pane.
Events to Display. Click the box for the events you want to display. You can choose to display only the news events that affect your clients or all news items.
Sort by. Click the box to indicate how you want the list sorted. You can sort by publication date (newest to oldest) or by the number of affected clients, listed in descending order.
Event list filters. Use these filters to reduce the number of events in the list. Click the filter, and then select the check box for each option you want to apply. You can select multiple criteria for each filter. Only events that meet all selected criteria will display.

Steps to apply the filter
Notes
Client responsible staff
Assigned to a specific client responsible staff
Select a client responsible staff position from the list, and then enter or select a specifistaff member in that position.
If a client responsible staff filter is applied here, it is also applied on the Affected Clients page.
Click the filter, and then select the check boxes for the offices to include.
All of your firm's offices display in the list. However, the affected client count only includes clients in offices you have permission to access.
Signer
Whose returns were signed by the specified staff member
Begin entering either the signer code or preparer name that appears in the tax returns you want to view events for. The system displays names that match your entry. Select the correct code or name when you see it.
The signer code or preparer name must be in a tax return to return a match. For example, if a return has a signer code, but not the preparer name, entering a preparer name for the filter won't return a match for that return.
Click to save your selections and update the news events.
New events are added on an ongoing basis. Keep up with the most recent updates by refreshing the events list frequently. Use the change log to see at a glance which events were added or updated recently.
To refresh the iQ Events list, click in the pane's title bar. This step refreshes both the events list and the affected clients count. Your sort and filter selections are retained after a refresh.
To view the change log, click in the upper right corner of the pane. A red badge next to this icon indicates that there are items in the change log that you haven't viewed.
Within the change log, updates are grouped according to when the changes occured: Today, Last 7 Days, and Prior. Click these headers to expand or collapse each section as needed. Titles that were added or updated since you last viewed the change log display in bold-faced type.
Hover the pointer over a title to display an expanded description.
