The Affected Clients page displays a list of client returns affected by an iQ event. Detailed data from the client returns is also visible. You can refine the list with filters, open affected returns, and export the client list to a Microsoft® Excel® spreadsheet.
Open the Affected Clients Pane
To display the Affected Clients page, do one of the following:
From the iQ Events pane, click on the Dashboard iQ Events pane.
On an Event page, click View affected clients.
The criteria used to identify the affected clients displays at the top of the window. Click to the right of a line of criteria to display additional information about the criteria clients must meet in order to be listed on the page.
The affected clients are listed below the criteria in client ID order. The number of clients visible to you might be fewer than the number of affected clients shown on the iQ Events pane on Dashboard.
Only clients that you have been granted access to, either individually or through client access groups, are listed.
If you are assigned a role for a client, that role must include the Tax return > View functional right for that client to be listed.
Select options for any of the filters at the top right of the page, and then click Update Clients to refresh the list. The available filters are as follows:
Filter
Limits clients in the count to those who
Steps to apply the filter
Notes
Tax Year
Have a return in the selected tax year
Click the tax year you want to see returns for.
Only the current and previous tax years are available.
A tax year might not be available if an event is not applicable to that tax year.
Client responsible staff
Are assigned to a specific client responsible staff
Select a client responsible staff position from the list, and then enter or select a specific staff member in that position.
If a client responsible staff filter is applied here, it is also applied on the Affected Clients page.
Click the filter, and then select the check boxes for the offices to include.
All of your firm's offices display in the list. However, the affected client count only includes clients in offices you have permission to access.
Signer
Have returns signed by the specified staff member
Begin entering either the signer code or preparer name that appears in the tax returns you want to view events for. The system displays names that match your entry. Select the correct code or name when you see it.
The signer code or preparer name must be in a tax return to return a match. For example, if a return has a signer code, but not the preparer name, entering a preparer name for the filter won't return a match for that return.
You can add and remove event-specific columns of data to the client list. This additional data provides more context about each client's situation. After adding and removing columns as needed, you can then export the modified list for further filtering in Microsoft® Excel®.
To add or remove columns:
Add a column to the list. Click on the right side of the Columns box, and then select the column to add from the list that displays. Click to apply the column changes.
Remove a column from the list. Click the X next to a column name that is displayed in the Columns box.
Reset the columns list. Click to return the columns to their default selections.
Click the link in the Return ID column to open a client's tax return. If you save changes to the return and the return no longer meets the CCH Axcess iQ criteria, the client is removed from the Affected Clients list.
Click to download a sample letter that you can use as the basis of your client communications about this event. You can save and edit the letter as needed. The contents can be copied to an email message or used to guide your conversations with your clients. You can also edit the letters to request data that might be required or beneficial for client returns.
