The Batch Manager Window

Batch Manager opens to the Job Status window, displaying all your submitted batch jobs, according to the filter criteria selected.

Note: By default, all your jobs, but not jobs submitted by others, display. Permission to view batch jobs submitted by others and permission to access Organizer letter libraries from Batch Manager are functional rights that can be granted in security group profiles.

To open Batch Manager, do the following:

  1. Open Dashboard.
  2. Click Application Links on the navigation panel.
  3. Click Batch Manager under Tax.

The main components of the Job Status window, the Application menu, ribbon, Quick Access Toolbar, and grid, contain commands or allow access to the commands used to perform and manage batch processing.

Application Menu

The Application menu contains the available actions for CCH Axcess™  product. The menu also provides access to user options and, if applicable, a list of recently accessed records. Click in the upper-left corner of the window to display the menu and view the available options.

Ribbon

The ribbon is used throughout CCH Axcess™. It replaces the menus used in previous product versions. You no longer have to navigate menus or open multiple toolbars to locate the commands you need. Each ribbon can have multiple tabs. Commands displayed on each tab vary by module. On each tab, commands are grouped by similar functions.

You can control the appearance and functionality of the ribbon with the following features:

  • Minimize. You can minimize the ribbon by right-clicking the ribbon and selecting Minimize the Ribbon from the menu or by double-clicking a ribbon tab.
  • KeyTips. Each tab on the ribbon and each feature in a ribbon have corresponding keyboard commands. Press the Alt key to display the shortcuts and use your keyboard to execute ribbon commands.
  • ScreenTips. A description and, if applicable, a keyboard shortcut displays when you hover your mouse over each ribbon command.

Quick Access Toolbar

The Quick Access Toolbar displays either above or below the ribbon, depending on your preference, and can be customized to include the commands and ribbon groupsClosed Ribbon groups are labeled ribbon sections that combine commands that execute similar functions. you use most. Some commands, such as the command to open Dashboard, are included in the Quick Access Toolbar by default. Clicking a ribbon group that you have added to your Quick Access Toolbar displays a sub-menu of all the commands within the group.

The default and available optional commands vary depending on the module you are using. Your custom Quick Access Toolbar settings are applied to the module you are currently working in.

You can add or remove commands and ribbon groups in each module's Quick Access Toolbar from the following locations:

  1. Click to the right of the Quick Access Toolbar to display the Closedmenu options.
  2. Select More Commands from the Quick Access Toolbar menu.
  3. Select the Closedcommands to display in the Available and Selected commands lists.
  4. Do one of the following:
    • Add a command or ribbon group. Select a command or ribbon group from the Available commands list and click the right arrow to add the item to your Quick Access Toolbar.
    • Remove a command or ribbon group. Select a command or ribbon group from the Selected commands list and click the left arrow to remove the item from your Quick Access Toolbar.
  5. Select from the additional Quick Access Toolbar Closedoptions, if needed.
  6. Click OK to save your changes.

To quickly add an item to the Quick Access Toolbar, right-click any ribbon command, ribbon group command, or Application menu command and select Add to Quick Access Toolbar from the menu.

Grid

The Batch Manager window lists each job that you have submitted in the Job Status grid, according to your filter criteria. Click the Job Status bar located directly below the ribbon to show or hide the quick filter options. For more information about filtering and other grid features, see Working with Batch Manager Grids.

The following information displays in the Job Status grid:

  • Submitted. The date and time the job was submitted.
  • Job Type. The job description. See Reviewing Job Types and Statuses for more information about the various job types.
  • Submitted By. The staff name who submitted the job.
  • Updated By. The staff name who last updated the job.
  • Office. The office to which the staff who submitted the job is assigned.
  • Job Status. The current job status. You can click some statuses in the Job Status column, such as Complete or Scheduled, to resubmit or reschedule a job. See Reviewing Job Types and Statuses for more information about the various statuses.
  • Download. The download status, Ready to Download or Downloaded, of tax data exported from Return Manager, large return PDFs, magnetic media files exported from Tax, and specialized state extensions and estimates. You can click the link to download and save the return data as an external file.
  • Items. The number of records in the job.
  • Progress/Completed. The current progress shown in a progress bar, or the date and time the job completed.
  • Scheduled/Pattern. The date and time scheduled jobs are set to run.
