Reviewing Job Types and Statuses

Job Types

Each record in the Job Status grid is categorized by job type. The Job Type column describes each submitted batch job. The following job types are available:

  Calculate Returns Roll Forward Templates
e-File Extensions Specialized State Estimates (AL) - 1st Quarter
Large Calc Specialized State Estimates (AL) - 2nd Quarter
Magnetic Media Specialized State Estimates (AL) - 3rd Quarter
Print First Extensions Specialized State Estimates (AL) - 4th Quarter
Print Large Return Specialized State Extensions (AL)
Print Organizer Forms Tax Data Export
  Print Returns Tax Data Import
  Print Second Extensions Tax Equalization
  Purge Notes TaxTransfer Export
  Roll Forward Returns TaxTransfer Import

The following job types can be submitted from either Batch Manager or from an open return in Tax:

  • Large Calc. Calculation of large returns can take an extended amount time. The return is locked until calculation completes.
  • Print Large Return. Print of large returns can take an extended amount time. The return is locked until processing completes. When the job completes, click Ready to Download in the Download column to name and save the PDF. See Downloading Large Return PDFs for more information.

Tax data exports originate in Return Manager and are submitted to Batch Manager for download. When a Tax Data Export job type has a status of Complete, click Ready to Download in the Download column to name and save the file. See Downloading Exported Tax Data for more information.

The following job types are submitted using the CCH Axcess Open Integration Kit and TaxTransfer. Batch Manager stores the final products of these imports and exports, but does not perform the actually processing. See the Tax Help for more information about using TaxTransfer.

  • TaxTransfer Import. TaxTransfer works together with the Open Integration Kit to import data from XML files into Tax returns. You can review the job details report for a TaxTransfer import in Batch Manager. See Using the Job Detail Report for more information.
  • NoteBatch Manager allows you to see if an import for a particular return was successful. It does not allow you to verify whether an import from a specific XML file was successful. To view status information for a specific XML file in a batch, you can use the GetBatchDetail API provided with the Open Integration Kit. See the help for the Open Integration Kit for more information.

  • TaxTransfer Export. Compressed XML files containing Tax data exported via TaxTransfer and the Open Integration Kit are submitted to Batch Manager for download. When a TaxTransfer Export job type has a status of Complete or Exception (for partially successful jobs), you can click Ready to Download in the Download column to name and save the file.

Job Statuses

The system assigns the following statuses to a job:

  • Complete. Submitted jobs are completely processed with no future processing scheduled.
  • Exception . Submitted jobs are processed with at least one error in the batch. Click an Exception status to review the Job Detail report.
  • In-Process. Jobs are executing and cannot be deleted; however, they can be stopped. You can refresh the Job Status grid to view the completion percentage for each In-Process job.
  • Initializing. The system is performing the steps necessary to prepare jobs. When jobs are initialized, the status changes to Ready-to-Run.
  • Ready-to-Run. Jobs were submitted without a schedule, were scheduled with Run job now, or the scheduled dates and times of execution has arrived.
  • Scheduled. Jobs are scheduled to run at a specified date and time. Click a Scheduled status to review or change the scheduling date, time, and recurrence.
  • Stopped. In-process jobs were stopped by a user. The Stop operation does not cancel jobs. Items that were processed prior to the Stop operation are not reset to their previous state.
  • Stopping. The system is in the process of stopping the jobs.
  • Terminated. Jobs were terminated because the system stopped responding normally to the processing request.
