Setting Budget Options in a Template

To set budget options for projects at the template level, do the following:

  1. ClosedOpen the Templates list.
    • From Dashboard. Open Dashboard, click Application Links on the navigation panel, and then click Configuration > Project templates under Workstream.
    • In Workstream. Click Templates in the Manage group on the Manage ribbon.
  2. Select a project template, and then click. You can also right-click and select Open from the menu.
  3. Click Budget and Financial > Budget on the navigation panel.
  4. If you want to display cost, gross profit, and net profit in the budget summary, select Track cost and profit in addition to billings.
  5. Do one of the following depending on how the budget should be created:
    • ClosedEnter budget amounts manually.
      1. Select Enter project budget.
      2. Enter amounts in the Budget Summary section, if appropriate. If you enter nothing here, you can still enter budget amounts on the Budget to Actual tab in individual projects.
    • ClosedBuild a budget based on the workstep amounts. This option is only available if worksteps are included in the template.
      1. Select Build project budget from workstep amounts.
      2. If needed, add an adjustment to the total calculated from the worksteps by selecting Adjust by. Then, select either the percentage or dollar amount text box options and enter an adjustment value.
      3. If you selected to track cost and profit, select an option in the Apply adjustment list to indicate what amounts to apply the adjustment to. If you didn't select to track cost and profit, adjustments can only be applied to the budget.

        Note: The total budgeted hours box displays the total hours calculated from the worksteps.  For instructions on setting workstep budget amounts, see Setting Workstep Budgets for a Project Template.

  6. Enter an expected realization percentage rate.
  7. Click one of the ClosedSave buttons or Cancel.
