Creating Portals in Batches
Creating portals in batches can save you time. You can enter information for multiple new portals in a single place, and then simultaneously create multiple portals.
There are two methods for creating portals in batches:
- Using the Batch Portal Creation window. The Batch Portal Creation window is accessible to firm administrators from the Manage Portals window. Administrators enter the information required to set up the new portals, then test for and fix errors that would prevent the portals from being created. After any errors are resolved, the portals are created. See Creating Multiple Portals at One Time with the Batch Portal Creation Window for more information on this method.
- Using a template. The Portal Creation Template is a pre-formatted Excel® spreadsheet in which any staff member can enter the information needed to create new portals. When the firm administrator uploads the spreadsheet to Portal, the new portals are created. See Creating Portals in Batches with a Template for instructions on this method.
The batch creation method that is best for your firm will depend on the number of portals you need to create and the number of staff members who have firm administrator privileges. If you have many portals to create, but only one or two administrators, the template method may be most efficient since the template can be distributed to multiple people. If you have several staff members with administrator privileges, then it might be easier for them to enter new portal information directly in the Batch Portal Creation window.
