Welcome to Data Migration

The Data Migration Utility allows you to move your existing staff, client, return, and other information from the existing foundation suite into CCH Axcess™.

Important: Before you begin, please be sure to read Using Best Practices and view the How to use the migration utility tutorial.

The best practices document and tutorial will give you an overview of what the Data Migration Utility does and how to get the most from it. Be sure to study the recommendations applicable to the product you are migrating.

General guidelines include the following:

• Administrator access is required to run the utility.
• Decide which database has the most accurate and complete common data. Migrate this database first.
• Only one database can be migrated at a time.
• Ensure that you are using the latest version of each product to be migrated.
• No changes are made to the data in the existing foundation suite database.
• The utility will notify you of duplicates either in the current database or between the current and new databases. You will have options to determine what will migrate.
• Setting up the CCH Axcess firm structure in advance of migration will give you more options than may be available if you migrate first.
