Functional Rights
Obtain the functional rights to access Correspondence Manager libraries, to modify letter in tax returns, or both.
(Dashboard Application Links window > Security Groups > Functional Rights)
Correspondence Options
Configure the correspondence options in a return configuration set. The options are applied to all letter types for the return configuration set. Correspondence options can be set also in a return, overriding the return configuration set.
A letter type must be selected for preparation in the return configuration set or in the tax return for the letter type to generate.

Select Libraries
Letter Template, Paragraph, and Keyword libraries are organized by tax year and return type. Standard and custom letter templates and paragraphs that are available in the libraries vary on the tax year and return type selection.
Select a tax year and return type, and then click Go.
Create Custom Letter Templates
Standard letter templates are organized by letter type. You can create a custom letter template from a standard letter template or create one from scratch (pure template).
Letter templates must be associated with a return configuration set for the letter to generate in a return. Right-click a custom letter template in the library and select Enable Letter Template from the menu.
Create Custom Paragraphs
Standard paragraphs are organized by letter type and grouped by section, such as Heading or Closing. You can create a custom paragraph from a standard paragraph or create one from scratch. If a custom paragraph is created from a standard paragraph, it can be set to override the originating standard paragraph in letter templates for the same tax year, return type, and letter type.
Create Conditions
Conditions specify the criteria to be met for letter templates and paragraphs to generate in tax return letters.
Apply Grammar Variables
When you enter content in a paragraph, the system recognizes words that are defined as potential grammar variables. Grammar variables are converted to text inside returns, based on how the grammar variable conditions are evaluated when the letter is generated.
