Project Setup Hierarchy

Like most items in CCH Axcess, projects are organized based on firm settings. A project is created based on a template, and each project template is controlled by a project type.

  • Project types classify or categorize project templates and establish rules for project templates. Each project type likely has a different workflow. For example, the broad categories "Audit" or "Tax" can be project types. Project types establish the first set of rules for creating projects.
  • Project templates function as project blueprints. Creating projects with templates helps ensure that projects are consistent and conform to the same rules and settings. Project templates establish the defaults for project creation and the default and rules for roll forward.
  • Projects are the means your firm uses to track a task. Projects are based on templates, but can be further customized based on the project settings.
  • Worksteps are tasks you complete to finish a project. Worksteps are optional.
