Navigating the Files Page

The Client Axcess page you will use most frequently is the Files page. This page is the root folder where files for a portal are stored. From here, you can perform most file-related tasks, including uploading and downloading files.

Note: The specific tasks that each person can perform on the Files page depend on the type of user, the security role, and the file management role assigned to that person.

At minimum, the Files page contains two subfolders when the default template folder is assigned to a portal: the From Firm and To Firm folders. Navigating between the folders in Client Axcess varies slightly depending on the type of device you are using. See the sections below for more information.

ClosedNavigate the Files page on a desktop computer.

On a desktop computer, the folder structure for the portal displays on the left side of the window. If a folder has subfolders within it, the folder displays with an arrow. Clicking the arrow or double-clicking a folder opens the folder to display the subfolders. A list of the files contained in the folder displays on the right side of the screen. You can sort the list of files by clicking a column header.

Note: You can tell which folder is currently open by looking at the font color displayed in the folder tree. The currently selected folder is indicated by blue text.

ClosedNavigate the Files page on a tablet or phone.

On tablets and phones, the Files page is divided into two sections: the Folders and Files sections. The Folders section lists the subfolders contained in the currently selected folder. The Files section displays a list of the files in the folder. If a folder has subfolders within it, the folder icon has an arrow on it. Tapping a folder name opens the selected folder.

The name of the currently selected folder displays immediately above the Folders section of the screen. A left pointing arrow next to the folder name indicates that you are in a subfolder. Tapping this arrow will return you to the parent folder for the currently selected folder.

On tablets, you can sort the list of files displayed on the screen by tapping a column header in the Files section. Tapping a column header again toggles between an ascending sort and a descending sort. On a phone, you can sort the file list by clicking the ascending/descending sort icon.
