Exporting Tax Data
You can export tax data from any number of returns to an external file called a "recall file." You probably will not use this feature on a regular basis.
Data cannot be exported from returns that are:
- currently in-use
- locked for outsource
- password protected
- checked out
To export tax data to an external file, do the following:
- Open Return Manager.
- Do one of the following to identify the returns for which you want to export data:
- Select the returns to be exported in the Return Manager list.
- Verify that a control file listing all the returns to be exported is available for selection.
- Start the export wizard by clicking Export in the Tax Data group on the Utilities tab.
- Select how you want to identify the returns for export.
- Returns selected in Return Manager. If you want to export data from the returns you selected in Return Manager, click this option.
- Select returns by using a control file. A control file is a data file (.Dat) that identifies all the returns to be exported. It must be created prior to the export and should list return IDs in <Tax Year>:<Return Type>:<Client ID>:<Version> format.
- If you chose to select returns with a control file, do the following:
- Browse to and double-click the control file.
- Click Next on the Export Tax Data window.
- Select your
export file options. - Click Export to begin the process and display the Export status window.
- Review the Export log summary. You can do any of the following to this log:
- Click Finish. The exported tax data is submitted to Batch Manager where you can download and save the data.
