Editing Distributions

You can edit the distributions for both unposted and posted AR transactions.

Note: The distributed amounts in the window are figured using the auto-distribute rules for all invoices and charges that have not already received a distributed amount from this transaction. See Setting Up Accounts Receivable Options for the Firm for information on setting up the distribution rules for your firm. Invoice charges that have already received a distributed amount for this transaction through an edit/redistribute procedure retain the amount previously distributed.

To edit distributions, do the following:

  1. Open Dashboard, click Application Links on the navigation panel, and then select AR transactions under Accounts Receivable.
  2. Enter or edit a transaction, selecting either Auto-Distrbute & Review or Manual as the distribution method.

    Tip:  If you want to remove the distribution, select None as the distribution method.

    The top of the window displays the client's name, the undistributed amount of the transaction, and any amount already distributed. The undistributed and distributed amounts recalculate as changes are made to distributions.

  3. In the distribution window, edit the amounts in the Distributed Amount column as needed.
    • Click the green check mark next to a distributed amount to remove that distribution.
    • After entering a new amount, tab out of the field or click the black check mark to save that distribution.

    As you modify the distributions, the amounts above the grid listing the total distributed and undistributed amounts update automatically. The Remaining Amount column in the grid will also update to reflect amounts distributed to that item.

    Note: If this client is part of a billing group and the firm option to Include invoices/charges from is set to Client Billing Group, the open invoices/charges for any client in the billing group are also included in the distribution list.

  4. Click Save.
