Using Security Groups to Give Staff Access to Modules and Functions

A security group is a way to define access rights for staff in CCH Axcess. Use these groups to restrict or grant access to various areas in the products.

You can individually select staff to include in a security group or set criteria for staff to include in the group. If you add staff by specifying criteria, you can review the selection list and add or remove staff as needed.

If you have the appropriate security permissions, you can create or edit security groups. If you need to create a similar security group, you can create a group by copying an existing group.

On the Functional rights tab, you can grant specific rights. Select the applicable tab, expand the functional area, and select Grant, Undefined (not granted), or Never Allow from the Add, Edit, View, and Delete columns for each functional right. The group rights can be applied to the firm or one or more regions, offices, or business units.

Full Rights Security Group

The Default Administrator is automatically assigned to the Full Rights security group. This security group has all Single Sign-on (SSO) and product rights selected by default. The rights cannot be cleared.

The Full Rights security group cannot be deleted, and the Default Administrator cannot be unassigned from this security group.

The Default Administrator can assign or unassign other staff of the firm to/from the Full Rights security group.

You might consider setting up one or more of the following security groups:
