Pilot Testing Federation Services

Before you begin using Federation Services, you must pilot test the configuration. This allows you to make sure Federation Services is working prior to implementing Federation Services for all staff.

Any user who has the environment variable set up will be able to pilot test the Federation Services configuration. However, the option to turn on Federation Services for your firm will be unavailable until the default system administratorClosed A user account created at installation with full rights and ownership of the organizational structure. has successfully pilot tested Federation Services.

ImportantWolters Kluwer may need to make changes to your account to ensure continued access to CCH Axcess after you implement Federation Services. Before beginning Federation Services setup, we recommend reviewing the knowledge base article Planning for Changes to CCH Axcess Login Mode, and then contacting Wolters Kluwer so we can make the necessary changes.

To log in to Federation Services using a pilot test, do the following:

  1. Configure your Federation Services settings. See Configuring Federation Services Settings for more information.
  2. Generate the Federation pilot login code. For more information, see Setting Up a Workstation to Pilot Federation Services.
  3. Launch CCH Axcess. You will see a warning message stating that users will be authenticated using the Federation login.
  4. Do one of the following:
    • If you are outside your firm’s domain, you will be prompted to log in using your network credentials. Enter your domain\user name and password, and click OK.
    • If you are on your firm’s domain, you will not be required to enter a user name or password.

    CCH Axcess will open.

Successfully logging in to indicates Federation Services settings are configured correctly and trust is established.
