Merge PDFs
You can now combine, upload, and organize your PDF files in CCH Axcess Document.
The following features are now available:
Merge two or more PDFs into a single file
Upload and combine new PDFs with existing ones in Document
Reorder pages and rename combined files
Save merged PDFs back to Document
Shortcuts
Use these keyboard shortcuts to speed up your workflow:
Alt + A : Attach (Combine)
Alt + D : Document (Attach From)
Alt + M : My Device (Attach From)
Alt + C : Cancel
Combining PDFs
You can combine PDFs in several ways:
From the context menu
Using the Top Ribbon option (always enabled)
Selecting files from File List, Recent Files, and Search Results
File selection from Device
When you click "Combine PDF," a new window will open, displaying your selected files
Getting Started
Open Document Central
Click on File List / Recent Files / Search Results
Select one or more PDF files to combine
Right-click on the selected file(s) and choose "Combine PDF" from the context menu.
Note : The Combine PDF option is only available for PDF files and will be disabled for other document types.
Adding More Files
To add more files to your merge:
Click the "Add" button
Choose the source: Document or My Device
When "Document" is selected, the Attach Document file window will open
Click and select "Entity Type and Entity Name"
Select the desired PDF files
Click "Attach Selected" to add them to the Combine PDF window
When "My Device" is selected, the System browse file window will open
Browse and select the desired PDF files
Click "Open" to add them to the Combine PDF window
Working with PDF/Pages
Expand a PDF in the Combine PDF window to:
Move pages between PDFs (drag and drop)
Rearrange pages within a PDF (drag and drop)
Delete individual or multiple pages by right clicking and selecting "Delete"
The "Delete" button can also be used to delete the pages/PDF
Users can delete the individual PDF by hovering on to the PDF and click on delete
Note : Deleted or moved pages will only affect the combined PDF, not the original files.
Finalizing Your Merged PDF
Select the checkbox provided before the PDFs to perform the combine operation
You can select multiple files for the combine operation
If none of the checkboxes are selected, the "Combine" button will be disabled by default
If you want to select all files, you can click "Select All" for combine operation
Click the "Combine" button when you are ready to combine the PDFs
Rename the file if desired (default name is the first PDF)
Preview the combined PDF if needed
Save the file
Note : The Document system will handle file naming conflicts and guide you through metadata selection if necessary.
File Size Limit
Note that there is a 2 GB file size limit for individual and combined PDFs. The system will alert you if you exceed this limit.
Password-Protected Files
If you select password-protected PDFs:
A window will open prompting for passwords
Enter the correct password for each file
Click "Continue" to add the files to the Combine PDF window
You can remove files from this list if you do not want to provide a password
File Locking
When a user is performing Combine operations on a PDF, the file becomes locked in Document Central. Other users will see a checkout symbol indicating that the file is in use.
Drag and Drop
You can use drag and drop to:
Rearrange PDFs in the Combine PDF window
Add PDFs from Document or your Device to the Combine PDF window
Remember, you can only drag and drop PDF files
Canceling Operations
If you need to cancel the combine operation:
Click the "Cancel" button or use Alt + C
Any changes made will not be saved
You will need to start over if you decide to combine files later
