Selecting a Migration Option

Select one of the following options to determine which data will be migrated.

Note: Regardless of the option you choose, G/L Direct tables will be migrated to CCH Axcess if the table was not previously migrated.

Migrate all data

All your database information will be migrated, including office groups, staff, signerClosed In the existing foundation suite, signers are referred to as tax preparers. This is a terminology change for the new suite.s, clients, and tax returns.

Note: This option is only available for the first migration of each account.

Migrate specific clients and returns

Clients and returns

Use this option to select specific clients and returns to migrate. You can select returns based on return type, return status, and date modified. Versions can be automatically picked for migration by selecting All, Highest, Lowest, Pro Forma, or None from the list.

When migrating returns, select whether exact matches should overwrite the CCH Axcess return or become an additional version of the return. If the new database return has a newer revision date, the return will be migrated as a new version with no regard for the options.

Staff, signers, and office groups

The utility will attempt to migrate unmigrated or modified staff and signers. You can select to migrate all staff, or select specific staff to migrate.

Data added rather than changed will fill in blank fields in the new database. Changes replacing other data will not migrate.

Examples:

  • Joe Schwartz is new to the system and is migrated.
  • Tim James has a change of address. This will not be migrated because the utility does not overwrite fields in the new database.
  • Warren Peas has added a phone number. It will be migrated since it goes into an empty field.

Migrate tax returns for previously migrated clients

This option is available if you have already migrated the database. You can use this option to migrate versions of returns calculated after a certain date, select returns to migrate according to client, or migrate any changes for clients that have been made since the information was first migrated.
