Using the Client Dashboard Returns Pane

The Returns pane allows you to open and roll forward returns and review return status from the Client Dashboard. Add the Returns pane to the Client Dashboard, if it is not already displayed. See Adding, Moving, or Removing Panes in Client Dashboard for more information.

To manage returns from the Returns pane, do the following:

  1. Click Client Dashboard on the Dashboard navigation panel. The Client Selection window displays.
  2. ClosedSelect a client.
    1. Click the right arrow on the Client Selection window to search by ID or name.
    2. Enter text in the box to display the top search results. As you type, you will see matching items from the most recent search results, with the first matching item highlighted and listed first in the grid.
    3. Do any of the following to select an item:
      • Press Enter to select the highlighted item in the grid.
      • Move from the text box to select the highlighted item in the grid. For example, press Tab, or select another field or button.
      • Click a record in the grid.
      • Select the grid, use the up or down arrow key to select an item, and press Enter.
  3. Click OK. All returns, versions and years, for the selected client display in the grid.
  4. Note: You can also select a client from the Client Manager grid and click Client Dashboard on the Client Manager Home tab.

  5. Do any of the following:
    • Open. Click a return ID in the grid to open the return.
    • Filter. Filter the returns displayed by a specific tax year, if needed.
    • Roll forward. Select a row in the grid and click on the button bar.
    • View history. Select a row in the grid and click on the button bar.
    • Select columns. Click to add or remove columns in the grid. You can add any column that exists in Return Manager.
    • Find. Click and enter complete information to find exact matches or partial criteria to find similar matches. The Find feature searches all columns in the grid.
    • Refresh. Click to update the information if there have been any changes since the pane was opened.

Reviewing e-file Status

Columns for federal, federal extensions, state, and city electronic filing can be included in the grid. The following icons show the current electronic filing status:

For returns with multiple state electronic files, you can hover over the icon in the State column to view details about the status for all states filed.
