Finalizing a Request
Finalizing a request indicates that all required work for the engagement has been completed. Requests that have been in the Return Signature Received status for 30 days are moved to Finalized status automatically. You can also finalize requests from the Return in Progress, Awaiting Return Signature, or Return Signature Received status pages using the procedure below.
The only tasks that you can perform for a finalized request are:
- Opening the Document Locker so you can download or delete files.
- Downloading tax documents submitted by the client for the request.
- Downloading the finalized return package, if one exists for the request.
- Uploading an invoice for your clients to pay.
To manually finalize a request, do the following:
- If you are not already on a Requests page, click , and then select Requests.
- Open the status tab where the request is located by doing either of the following:
- On the Requests dashboard, click either the status name or status wedge in the Request Status section.
- From a different status page, select the status from the Request Status filter at the top of the page.
- Do one or both of the following as needed to narrow the list of requests to select from:
- Click above the grid and select a filter set. You can also create a new filter set.
- Enter all or part of the client name in the search box above the grid.
- Click for the request, and then click Finalize request.
