About Print PDF Passwords
When printing returns, return sections, return pages or forms, or Organizers, you can secure printed PDF files with a password. This allows you to store or send PDF return files without risk of unauthorized persons viewing sensitive information.
- The password is saved with the printed PDFs and not with the return. The password is only retained by the system until you successfully print, or you close or cancel the Print window. If you reprint the return, you must re-enter a password in order to protect the PDFs.
- You can secure print PDFs regardless if the return is secured. The PDF password is independent from the return password.
- The eight to twenty character password is case sensitive and can contain special character.
- If you cannot recall or obtain a print PDF password, there is no way to display or remove the password. You would simply reprint the return and re-enter a password.
