Eliminating Duplicate File Names

If a file that is being uploaded has the same name as an existing file in the same location, Portal displays the Manage duplicate files window. You can select how to resolve the duplication by doing the following:

  1. Select a row with a duplicate file name.
  2. In the Options column, select how you want to resolve the duplicate:
    • Overwrite. The file that is already in Portal will be replaced with the file being uploaded.
    • Ignore. The file will be uploaded as an additional version of the file that is already in Portal.
    • Rename. Enter a new name for the file in the New File Name box.
    • Cancel. The file with a duplicate name will not be uploaded.
    • Append the new to the existing. This option is only available for PDFs. The file being uploaded will be appended to the end of the file already in Portal.
    • Append the existing to the new. This option is only available for PDFs. The file already in Portal will be appended to the end of the file being uploaded.
  3. Click Apply.
