Setting Your Time Capture Options
You can use the Time Capture window in User Options to set up the time entry screen layout, set timer preferences, choose your data entry method, and choose your rounding method and intervals.
To set up your preferences for time entry, do the following:
- On the Dashboard, click User Options.
- Select Practice > Time Capture in the navigation panel.
- Select from the available options in each section, according to your preferences. Explain the components of the window.

Internal note |
Select this option to display internal notes on Time Capture windows. |
Invoice description |
Select this option to display invoice descriptions on Time Capture windows. |
Description before note |
Select this option to display the invoice description before the internal note on Time Capture windows. |
Work location |
Select this option to display the work location on Time Capture windows. You can also select a default value for your work location. |
Custom field |
Select this option to display any custom fields defined by your firm on Time Capture windows. |
Project fields |
Select this option to display the project fields on Time Capture windows. |
Clocks |
Allow clocks to run simultaneously |
Select this option to allow overlapping time transactions. |
Prompt when starting a new clock |
Select this option to display the New Clock window when starting a new clock. |
Show saved clocks reminder |
Select this option to display a reminder if there are saved clocks when CCH Axcess is opened. |
Data Entry |
Auto-fill fields using value from last transaction entered |
Select this option and values from the previous entry (in the current session) become the defaults for the next entry in the Daily Entry window. |
Use enter as tab |
Select this option and you can press the Enter key on your keyboard to move to the next field. |
Rounding |
Method |
Select how time transactions will be rounded during data entry or when a new transaction window is opened. Values less than the Firm interval are not allowed. |
Interval |
Select the interval in which transactions are rounded during data entry or when a new transaction window is opened. Values less than the Firm interval are not allowed. |
Firm method |
Displays the Rounding method established in firm setup. |
Firm interval |
Displays the Rounding interval established in firm setup. |
- Click OK.
