You can use the audit trail feature to capture information about activities performed in Document. Activities can be tracked by user and by file. You can enable and configure audit trail tracking on the Audit Trail Settings window. Information gathered through audit tracking can be viewed on audit trail reports.

Open Dashboard, click Application Links on the navigation panel, and then click Settings and defaults under Firm.
Click Document > Audit Trail Settings on the navigation panel.
Edit the settings in the User activity auditing section as needed.

Enable user activity auditing
Select the check box to enable user activity tracking. Clear the check box to disable user activity tracking.
Archive log files
Select Automatically to archive the user activity log files automatically based on a schedule you specify in the Recurrence pattern for auto archive section. Select Manually to require the files to be archived manually. See the procedure below for instructions on archiving the log files manually.
Purge after archive
Select Automatically to purge the user activity log files after they are archived based on a schedule you specify in the Recurrence pattern for auto purge section. Select Manually to require the files to be purged manually. Select Just after archive to automatically purge the files immediately after they are archived. See the procedure below for instructions on purging the log files manually.

If you selected Automatically for the Archive log files option, select how frequently you want the log files to be archived.

If you selected Automatically for the Purge after archive option, select how frequently you want files to be purged.

Recurrence pattern for auto archive
If you selected Automatically for the Archive log files option, select how often you want the log files to be archived.
Open Dashboard, click Application Links on the navigation panel, and then click Settings and defaults under Firm.
Click Document > Audit Trail Settings on the navigation panel.
Expand either the User activity auditing section of the window or the File activity auditing section of the window, depending on which file you want to archive.
Click Archive now.
Select the time frame for which you want to archive the audit activity. You can do either of the following:
Select a time frame from the Archive list.
Select Specified date from the Archive list, and then enter a specific date or date range in the Date field.
Enter the email address of the person who should receive the archived log file. You can also click the user button to select a user from the list.
Select the format for the audit log file. You can select either an XLS or an XML file.
In the View report section, select Yes if you want to view the log file report in Administration Manager. Select No, just send email if you want to send the report by email without viewing it in Administration Manager.
