Getting Started with Document

Document provides a safe and centralized solution for managing digital files. Click a link below to learn more about some common tasks you can perform in Document.

Notes: The tasks listed below are available to most Document users. See Setting Up Document for Your Firm for information about administrator tasks.

You can access certain Document features on your mobile device. CCH Axcess is available on both Apple and Android devices, with views customized for both phones and tablets. Expand the sections below to learn more about using Document with other Axcess modules and CCH programs.

ClosedUsing Document with other CCH Axcess Modules

Document shares a common client database with the other CCH Axcess modules. This common database makes it easy for you to send files from other CCH Axcess modules to Document. Document interacts with the other modules in the following ways:

  • Portal. You can send files stored in Document to a client portal. Files uploaded to Portal by clients can also be added to Document.
  • Practice. You can send invoices created in Practice to Document. If your firm also uses Portal, you can publish the invoices to Portal at the same time.
  • Tax. You can send returns to a client's storage folder in Document from within Tax. If your firm also uses Portal, you can automatically publish the files to Portal at the same time.
  • Workstream. You can link files stored in Document to projects created in Workstream. Once these links are established, you can view and access files stored in Document from within Workstream.

Your firm may need to set some firm options to ensure that the interaction between Document and these other modules fits your firm's workflow. Click a link above for a product to learn more about the firm options.

ClosedUsing the Plug-ins for Microsoft® Office and Adobe® Acrobat®

The CCH Axcess Plug-ins for Document give you the ability to send files from the Microsoft® Office suite and Adobe® Acrobat® to Document. Click a link below to learn more about using some of the basic features of the plug-ins.

ClosedUsing Share Safe

Share Safe is a feature that allows you to safely exchange files with clients or third parties without having to create a portal. You can send files stored in Document or on your computer via the Microsoft® Outlook® Plug-ins. Clients use a firm-specific URL that you share with them to access files sent to them or to upload files to the firm. See the following topics for more information:

ClosedUsing Document with other Wolters Kluwer Products

You can use Document along with the other Wolters Kluwer products listed below. Before you can use these products with Document, your firm may need to configure options in the other program.
