Scheduling and Rescheduling Jobs

Jobs can be scheduled to perform repetitive tasks and to perform tasks unattended or after hours. You can schedule recurring jobs with a variety of intervals and with an optional end date.

A job that has been scheduled to run at a particular time can be rescheduled to run at a different time.

Note: Electronic filing of 1040 extensions cannot be resubmitted and rescheduled after a successful upload to the Electronic Filing Status system. You can create a job to electronically file 1040 extensions that have been previously filed.

To schedule or reschedule a job, do the following:

  1. Open Dashboard.
  2. Click Application Links on the navigation panel.
  3. Click Batch Manager under Tax.
  4. Do one of the following to display the Schedule Job window:
  5. ClosedSchedule a new job.

    1. Click New Job in the Job Management group on the Home tab.
    2. Select the type of job you want to create.
    3. Select the items to include in the batch.
    4. Click Continue.
    5. Select your job options.
    6. Click Schedule Job on the options window.

    ClosedReschedule an existing job that does not have a status of Complete, Stopped, or Terminated.

    1. Select a job that has been scheduled from the Batch Manager Job Status window.
    2. Click Reschedule in the Job Management group on the Home tab.

    1. Select a job that has been completed, stopped, or terminated from the Batch Manager grid.
    2. Click Resubmit in the Job Management group on the Home tab.
    3. Select your resubmission options. ClosedExplain the resubmit options.
    4. Click Schedule Job.
  6. Select Run job when scheduled.
  7. Select a date and time. ClosedExplain the options.
  8. If you are scheduling a calculation job, you can schedule a recurrence pattern and, if selected to run more than once, a recurrence range. Recurrence options are not available for print, electronic filing, or roll forward job types. ClosedExplain the options.
  9. Click Schedule to save your settings.
  10. For new jobs, click Submit Job and for resubmitted jobs, click Resubmit.
