Social Security or Employer ID Number

The entry in this field prints as entered. Hyphens must be entered in the proper locations. "Applied For" and "Exempt" are valid entries for paper returns.

Electronic filing must have valid Social Security numbers or FEINs. The dashes must be entered in order for the electronic file to know whether or not it is a Social Security number or an FEIN.

Notes:

If utilizing redaction, this field must have the hyphens.
For electronic filing, use "000-00-0000" or "00-0000000" to indicate that this is a "Foreign US". "Foreign US" will print on the federal Schedule K-1.
For electronic filing, use "999-99-9999" or "99-999999999" for "Applied for". "Applied for" will print on the federal Schedule K-1.
