Form 8829 - Expenses for Business Use of Home
Use Business Use of Home (Form 8829) section to enter information for the calculation of the home office deduction. Form 8829 is prepared when entries are made in the Business Use of Home section of the Profit or Loss from Business worksheet and the allowable deduction is included on the Schedule C, "Expenses for business use of your home" line. If entries are made in the Business Use of Home section of the Itemized Deductions, Employee Business Expense, Profit or Loss from Farming, Fiduciary Passthrough, Partnership Passthrough, Large Partnership Passthrough or S Corporation Passthrough worksheets, a supporting worksheet is prepared showing the calculation of the home office deduction and the allowable deduction is included on the appropriate Form 2106, Schedule A, Schedule F or Income from Passthrough Statement.
If the business has net gains or (losses), the amounts will be used when the same Schedule C or Schedule F entity number or K-1 activity number is entered on the Gains and Losses worksheet, Business Property, Casualties and Thefts section. If the business attaches to Form 2106 or Schedule A, entries must be made on this worksheet.
